Catapulting... with only French directions is not a good idea.

Bonjour! Castles and aqueducts and a whole heck of a lot of walking.... and I loved every second of it. America SEVERELY lacks in the architecture department! Today we started off as usual 8:45 on the bus and drove to Avignon which is where we visited the "Pope's Palace", aka the castle out of every girls perfect fairy tale. This place was unbelievable. It was this massive stone structure that took 20 years to build! It's a little over 700 years old and is still in incredible shape. We got a tour of it and saw a lot of interesting things inside. The castle itself, the paintings of the walls that are still there, the different rooms, the secret treasure hiding places, the kitchen, and so much more. I was in love at first sight. We proceeded to eat lunch in the city. Panini chicken sandwich and a sprite, oh how refreshing! Then it was time to get on the bus and hit our next destination, Pont du Gard.Pont du Gard was incredible in itself. It's the Roman aqueducts! They are massive and still standing as if they were made only a couple years ago. What a beautiful creation! We took pictures and then got to walk up on the bridge that's beside the aqueducts and get closer and actually see how big these structures really were! (For those of you unsure what an aqueduct is, it's almost like an irrigation system in the fact that it takes water from the hills and guides it to the city below into a specific place for its inhabitants. It's built at a specific downward slope so that water flows downward. Pretty impressive for people without such technology as we have today. One of my favorite experiences so far!
Our last stop today was Les Baux were we toured another castle, well sort of, this castle had been partially destroyed by the French King so there was only bits and pieces left! Plus I got to help catapult a rock! This is the first time all week that I've really had any trouble with the French language. Whew

We climbed to one of the top towers of the remaining parts of the castle and took pictures of the valleys below. It's so beautiful here, everything is green and there are vineyards, and places where they grow olives everywhere. I took plenty of pictures today so make sure and look at them all!! It was fun, but dreadfully hot today!

Tomorrow we're packing up and leaving for London at 7:45 in the morning... (Im not going to be a happy camper I can already feel it), but Im so excited to get to London and here people that actually speak ENGLISH!
Mom you'll be proud to know that school starts on Friday.... boo. My sister Valerie is supposed to be having her first baby today so I'm waiting to here about that! I'm ecstatic! My first niece, I'm going to be the best aunt ever!
Hope every one had such a great day, miss everyone!

xo.
